The real Compsognathus (say it komp-sog-NAY-thus) lived in the Late Jurassic — chicken-sized, and for over a century the smallest dinosaur known. Painted in the Storybook style: soft gouache and colored pencil over an anatomically careful drawing — gentle enough for a nursery, accurate enough for a classroom.
